About Our Trip

Test the Waters provides the opportunity for divers to experience a taste of the Ultimate Alaskan Adventure. For 12 years Test The Waters has provided a safe introduction to cold water diving to both new and experienced divers. Our highly trained staff of PADI Instructors are skilled cold water divers and are eager to share their experience and expertise. Test The Waters provides our customers with a means of exploring Alaska’s unique underwater playground. Some of the most spectacular diving in the world is right in our own backyard. In pursuit of your Ultimate Alaskan Adventure, you will discover that life is hardy and prolific.

 
What is Provided

Divers are provided with a unique opportunity to experience cold water diving in a controlled and safe environment. For students at the Open Water level we provide all the necessary exposure wear such as drysuits (drysuit undergarments not included), hoods, and gloves. Our goal is to ensure comfortable and pleasurable cold water experience. We will introduce you to a new world where life is everywhere you look.

For experienced divers and students beyond Open Water Diver level Test the Waters Dive Center is a full service center with a complete line of new and used equipment for purchase. If you would like to “try before you buy” you are welcome to rent our gear for your diving comfort. Also included in the trip is unlimited shore dives, 2-tank boat dives/day, incredible night dives, and the expertise of two or more experienced cold water diving instructors and/or dive masters for your safe and fun diving experience. Test the Waters does not provide arrangements for sleeping accommodations. There are several hotels and Bed & Breakfast in the area choose from.
What to Bring

Your sense of wonder and adventure are the most important things to bring. You will also need to bring and personal dive gear. A towel, warm clothing for above the water and a folding chair are not necessary but handy items to have. You will also need to bring snack foods and drinks for between dives. Meals are not included in the cost of the trip. You may bring your own food or dine at any one of the restaurants in beautiful downtown Valdez.
